Handcrafted Barnacle Vase from Meghan Bergman Ceramics. Hand built, with white stoneware, and fired with iron oxides and various underglazes in an electric kiln.

When you want to bring the 'coastal' vibe to your home, office, or beach house, this ocean inspired ceramic barnacle vase will make a fine focal point or accent in your home decor.

This handmade barnacle vase starts as a single ball of clay, and a vase is formed by hand. Texture is added and the foot is created. Next, each barnacle is meticulously handmade and attached to the piece, inspired by underwater life and is ready to #admire from every angle.  Finishing touches are added with shells attached to the face of the piece. Gentle curves around each barnacle also serve as a function to catch the drippy glazes.

After drying, the piece is carefully loaded into the kiln and is bisque fired, then glaze and iron oxides are added to the piece, and the piece fired for a second time to transform into a work of art.

Here are some answer to common questions from customers. Have a question for Meghan? Send a note to meghan@meghanbergman.com

Can I put ceramic ware into the dishwasher or microwave?

Yes! All of my functional pottery is made with food safe glazes and is safe to use in the microwave, or dishwasher. I do recommend hand washing barnacle cups/mugs because of they are more delicate. Our family has been using some of my own personal collection of handcrafted mugs for over 10 years!

How can I use your barnacle cups?

Customers have tagged @mvbceramics on Instagram to share their pictures / shout-outs of pottery in use!

My handmade pottery, including Barnacle Cups, are both beautiful & functional. I think about the form from every angle, placing barnacles and shells in strategic places, so the cup is comfortable to hold and admire.

#Sip:  Find joy in using your barnacle cups to sip morning coffee, afternoon tea, or for cocktails during Happy Hour.

#Plant: Where the land meets the sea.  Barnacle vases, bowls, and even cups make great planters for succulents and other indoor plants.

#Admire: Find your new favorite accent or focal point to enjoy in your home or office.

When will my order ship?

Gift wrapping and packaging

When you order handcrafted ceramics, I want you or your loved ones to be excited to open a one-of-a-kind treasure. I personally wrap every piece of pottery, and include tissue paper, a handwritten thank you, and well wishes.

♻️ In an effort to be more sustainable, I use a honeycomb paper wrap which is a sustainable, biodegradable, and recyclable solution to traditional bubble wrap. (As a ceramics artist bubble wrap is somewhat unavoidable for my most delicate pieces, but I will also try and reuse lightly used packing materials wherever possible).
